Alejandro’s Inspiring Holiday Transformation: Losing 12 lbs in 6 Weeks

For most people, fitness and nutrition take a backseat during the holiday season.

Between the temptation of indulgent treats. festive drinks, and busy schedules, there’s a whole lot of reasons to not work out.

This was not the case for Alejandro, who lost 12 lbs between November and December. In just six weeks, Alejandro went from 222 lbs to 210 lbs and he is now just 5 lbs away from his 90-day goal, which was to lose 25 lbs in his first 90 days.

In this blog post, we are going to tell you exactly how he did it.

Beginning his Journey with On-Ramp

Alejandro came to CrossFit Showdown without any CrossFit experience.

He walked in our doors with a clear goal, however, which was to feel better, move better, and improve his overall health. Like many of our members, he started with our on-ramp program, designed to help beginners build confidence in foundational movements and understand the structure of a CrossFit class.

From the beginning, Alejandro’s coachability and consistency stood out. He listened intently and trusted the process. During on-ramp, he learned the basics of weightlifting, bodyweight movements, and cardio exercises while gaining the confidence he needed to step into group classes.

By the end of his on-ramp sessions, Alejandro was ready to take the next step: committing to regular attendance in our CrossFit classes.

Building Momentum and Consistency

Once Alejandro joined regular classes, he immediately embraced the supportive community and structured workouts at CrossFit Showdown.

Despite a busy work schedule, he prioritized attending 4-5 classes each week.

Alejandro’s commitment to consistency is the biggest reason for his success. As I am writing this post, he has attended almost 70 workouts and has a 15-week streak of showing up to the gym.

As a beginner, his coaches understood the importance of making modifications to help him progress safely. In addition, we’ve made sure to celebrate the little wins along the way.

Committing to Nutrition Outside of the Gym

In addition to a consistent training schedule, Alejandro made intentional changes to his nutrition. Through conversations with our coaches, he learned about the importance of a high-protein diet for building muscle, boosting recovery, and keeping hunger in check.

Alejandro started simple: prioritizing lean protein at every meal. He swapped sugary treats for filling meals that included chicken, eggs, fish, and protein-packed snacks. These small but consistent changes helped him feel more energized, recover faster, and ultimately shed weight while maintaining muscle.
