3 Life-Altering Commitments to Radically Improve Your Life in 2026

Most people are turned off by the idea of committing to big, audacious goals because of the fear of failure.

Having your sights set on something that seems so crazy to pull off makes the challenge worthwhile.

Instead of thinking, “I could never do this,” think, “How can I do this?”

That one shift in your mindset can be the difference between a mediocre, average life and an extraordinary one.

In this blog post, I will tell you 3 life-altering commitments that will completely transform your life by the end of the year.

How To Set a Goal For Yourself

Before I outline your three life-altering commitments for 2026, define the goal you want to accomplish for yourself.

  1. Start by writing the goal down clearly and specifically.
  2. Reverse-engineer the goal into a simple daily action that moves you closer to your goal. The daily action should be measurable, repeatable, and fully within your control. Your daily action should be the same task every day.
  3. Remove any friction that would make this daily task difficult. Prepare your environment in advance, set a time for this specific task, and ensure you have everything you need to complete it every day.

Having a clear goal in mind with a simple, daily, repeatable task will help you accomplish what can seem like even the most impossible goals.

Your 3 Life-Altering Commitments in 2026

  1. Accumulate 300 workouts
  2. Walk or run 600 miles
  3. Read 40 books

Looking at these big, audacious goals at face value, you may be thinking to yourself, “There’s no way I can workout 300 times,” or, “How the heck am I supposed to run 600 miles?”

Keep reading, and I will break this down for you in a way that makes all three goals seem completely achievable.

Accumulate 300 Workouts

As of writing this blog post, there are 312 days left in 2026.

Working out 300 times before the year is up seems like an impossible feat… unless you break it down into one 30-60 minute workout per day.

Take a look at your schedule, find the one time that you can 100% workout without any distractions.

You will set that time as your daily workout block, and you will stick to it every day.

Every workout does not need to be intense, but you should be intentionally moving your body for that set block.

Whether that means going to a workout class, doing a personal training session, or working out by yourself, aim to do one workout per day.

By prioritizing this one habit every day for the rest of the year, you will be a completely different person.

Walk or Run 600 Miles

2 miles per day, walking or running-every single day.

This task takes roughly 15-40 minutes, depending on whether you walk or run and how fast you run.

One mile equals roughly 1,500 to 2,000 steps.

Here are the benefits of walking an extra 3,000 to 4,000 steps per day:

  • Burns More Calories – Increases daily energy expenditure and supports fat loss or weight maintenance.
  • Improves Heart Health – Lowers blood pressure and reduces long-term cardiovascular risk.
  • Enhances Blood Sugar Control – Improves insulin sensitivity and reduces glucose spikes.
  • Boosts Mood and Focus – Decreases stress and improves mental clarity.
  • Offsets Sitting Time – Reduces the health risks associated with prolonged sedentary behavior.

Taking time in our day to get up and walk before work, on your lunch break, or after work will have enormous benefits on how you feel day to day.

A year of walking or running 2 miles every day will stack up to over 600 miles in a year.

For a sedentary person, this is a life-changing amount of movement that will expedite fat loss and improve mental clarity throughout the day.

Read 40 Books

Have you ever considered how much time you spend watching TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube videos, Netflix, and other forms of entertainment?

I’m not saying to completely cease all forms of entertainment in your life, but if you devoted just 30 minutes per day to read one book, you could easily knock out one book per week, or 40 books per year.

Reading once per day builds discipline and will make you smarter.

Once you create the habit of putting your phone down, picking up a book, and reading every day, you’ll start to accumulate an increasing amount of knowledge, completely separating yourself from your peers at work.

The books you read should be personal development books, not fiction novels.

The goal of reading these books is to accumulate more knowledge that you can use to benefit your career, life, relationships, and skills.

What You Can Start Doing Now

Use these three audacious goals I laid out for you, remove any distractions and points of friction that would make your daily tasks difficult.

Here are your three daily tasks, simplified into daily steps:

  • Workout for 30-60 minutes
  • Walk or run 2 miles
  • Read for 30 minutes

“If it is to be, it is up to me.” All of these habits are completely in your control.

Only you have the power to change your life.

When you break down a big, audacious goal into a small, easy-to-repeat daily task, you will learn discipline and the power of consistency.
